Pet-friendly staycations you can drive to for the holidays

Petto Daily
BY PETTO DAILY 13 December 2022

When temperatures drop during the holiday season, that extra layer of fashionable clothing is not the only thing we look forward to. Mountain-side retreats with our fur babies stir up visions of hot cocoa for you and a warm, cosy bed for the little one.

Unfortunately, reality isn’t always on the side of the busy pet parent who will need to brave planning, packing, and driving to enjoy a few days of bliss.

But take it from the Petto Daily team who have had their fair share of staycations with our four-legged family members - it’s always worth it, especially when the cold weather is too irresistible to pass up.

Here’s a list of nature-abundant spaces that guarantee a restful stay, campfire-cooked S'mores not included.

Blackbird Hill, Tanay, Rizal

Perched on a hill with unobstructed views of Sierra Madre, Blackbird Hill is the ideal weekend getaway when you need a whole house to yourself, several of your friends and family, and their fur babies. There are plenty of spaces to stretch around and take in the view, particularly the “sea of clouds” blanketing the surrounding areas.

There is a short hiking path to satisfy curious noses and open areas to romp in.

Rates from PhP 13,000++/night depending on the season.

Cabins at Amadeo, Amadeo, Cavite

The Cabins at Amadeo surprise with its rustic charm and generous outdoor space (relative to the size of the cabin). Minutes away from Tagaytay, Cabin A - Pahimis welcomes 8 guests but we think six guests is optimal given the limited lounging areas indoors, especially when you’re bringing your pet along.

A dipping pool is available but it can get freezing during the “ber” months.

Rates from PhP 9,000/night.

Una Alfonso, Alfonso, Cavite

Another rustic charmer, Una Alfonso in Alfonso, Cavite can gather a group of 16 guests with enough seating to go around. Between the kitchen and outdoor grill, you’re assured that whoever is in charge of cooking will be able to provide a fantastic feast.

Pitch a tent for both furry and young ones if you want to maximise being outdoors.

Rates from PhP 12,000++/night.

The Farm at San Benito, Lipa, Batangas

If a splurge is in order, The Farm at San Benito is your best bet. This award-winning resort is pet friendly as well. All villas (except Banaba) allow your fur baby to bunk in with you. There is an extra charge of PhP 2,440/night and PhP 3,660 for 2 nights or more. This comes with the use of underpads, poop bags, and treats.

Rates from PhP 26,000++/night.

Sonya’s Garden, Alfonso, Cavite

The cottages at Sonya’s Garden are a lovely throwback to slow provincial living. If you’re looking for some solo time with your fur baby, this is where you’d want to be. Take a stroll around the gardens or shop for organic skin care products - you’ll definitely want to extend the bliss long after you’ve left.

You will need to add an additional PhP 800 per pet per night for your stay.

Rates from PhP 3,200++ per person/night.

BEFORE YOU GO…

We curated the list based on previous stays, guest experience, and how safe (and interesting) it is for pets. However, as responsible pet owners, we need to ensure that we still secure our fur babies from things that might pose a risk to them. Some escape artists can elude the most secure fencing, pursue animals that can poison, bite, or sting, and so on.

Here are a few tips to keep in mind when you plan and take that holiday with your pets.
